Important alert about potential supply chain issues for 2022 vintage
Alert on upcoming issues affecting the supply chain for oak barrels and large format vats, rounds and oval casks for the 2022 vintage.
I am writing at this time to give you an insight into the very probable supply chain issues that Classic Oak Products (and many other suppliers) will most likely be facing for the next vintage.
This will have some impact on the total movements for our products from our cooperages to your winery.
To summarise these issues:
- Continuation of the BMSB treatment, at the port, from 1st September to the end of April 2022 (read Classic Oak Products’ statement on the BMSB)
- The need to book vessels at least eight weeks in advance of sailings
- Reduced amount of vessels for the Australasian route creating greater competition for loading for all products
- Significant price increases for the sea freight, and potentially inland freight price increases within France
- Potential increased pressure for container clearance at some Australian, and New Zealand ports
- Industrial action at Australian ports is creating additional delays of up to seven days.
We are planning to have our prices finalised in August and will be sending out our pricing shortly thereafter. Alternatively, if you need pricing now please contact me or one of our dedicated team of oak specialists listed below.
In summary, in sending you this letter we want to make sure that you are aware of these global issues, with adequate time to review your requirements for vintage 2022.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me or one of the team.
Yours sincerely,
Peter Dunlop
